Almost half of all Australians are likely to be diagnosed with or experience a mental illness in their lifetime. In the 2023/24 period, mental health conditions accounted for approximately 12% of all serious workers’ compensation claims in Australia, with significantly larger financial costs and almost 5 times longer work absences than for physical injuries.
